About TayvenSec
Cyber Security, Without the Noise
After two decades working across IT and cyber security, I wanted a place to continue learning, document practical experience, and share the lessons that often get lost between frameworks, projects, and day-to-day operations.
TayvenSec is that place.
Originally created as a personal learning and writing project, the site has evolved into a professional portfolio of cyber security knowledge, practical guidance, and independently developed resources. It provides a space to explore ideas in greater depth, develop reusable materials, and contribute back to the cyber security community through clear, practical content.
Throughout my career I have worked across frontline support, systems administration, mobility, infrastructure, blue-team operations, and cyber security. That experience has included incident response, threat detection, SIEM and XDR deployment, SOC operations and escalation, ACSC Essential Eight implementation, vulnerability management, phishing simulations, awareness training, documentation, governance, and risk reduction across cloud and on-premises environments.
Those experiences directly shape the content published on this site. TayvenSec covers cyber security awareness, security culture, incident response, tabletop exercises, NIST CSF 2.0, vulnerability management, mentoring, architecture, governance, and professional practice. The common thread across all of these areas is a belief that effective security depends on more than technology alone. It requires clear communication, practical processes, ongoing education, and an understanding of how people interact with technology in the real world.
A consistent theme throughout my career has been translating complex technical concepts into practical guidance that people can understand and apply. Whether supporting end users, training staff, responding to incidents, or helping leadership understand risk, the challenge is often the same: making cyber security meaningful, accessible, and actionable.
TayvenSec is where I continue developing that capability. It is a workshop for ideas, a place to test concepts, document lessons learned, build practical resources, and contribute to the broader conversation around cyber security. Some articles are written for practitioners, others for leaders, and many for people simply looking to better understand the technology and risks that affect them every day.
Everything published here is created with one objective:
To make cyber security clearer, more practical, and more useful for the people expected to apply it.
This site represents an ongoing commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and knowledge sharing. It serves as both a record of that journey and a platform for exploring what comes next.
If you want the human side of things. The travel, the nostalgia, the stories that happen outside the SOC, you’ll find that on my other blog, Tayven’s World: https://tayven.com/
